Renew Your GSWC Membership!


The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30. Grace period 30 days. Applications received after March 1 will be applied to the next membership year unless otherwise requested. Dues are not prorated. 


General Membership $15 Sustaining Membership $25 Organization Membership $10
 
Membership types
  • General - Allows access to the members-only area of the website for up to four individuals living at the same address
  • Sustaining - Allows access to the members-only area of the website for up to four individuals living at the same address *and* provides extra money to support the Society in its work
  • Organization - This membership is meant for libraries, museums, and historical societies. It does *not* allow access to the members-only area of the website, but does include a subscription to Family History Capers and News-Pages.​

​If you have more than one person associated with your membership, please send those names (first and last) and their email addresses to membership@washtenawgenealog.org so that your membership profile may be updated.

Click on View Cart to see the items in your PayPal Shopping Cart. You can modify or remove items before checking out.  Notice: You should be able to view your cart in the window/tab that PayPal opened up when you added to the cart. - JH

You do not need to have a PayPal account. When you click Add to Cart, you will be presented with two options: 

  • PayPal Check Out (yellow button)
  • Check Out (white button) - pay without a PayPal account

To renew by mail: Fill out the GSWC membership form and mail in with your check.


Announcing new ways for giving!
  • Giving to the Michigan History Foundation/Archives Fund 
    • ​Click on "Donate to Mich History" in the main menu to open the donations page for the Archives Fund.
    • You will be leaving the GSWC website if you click on the link.
  • Giving to GSWC
    • ​Click on "Donate to GSWC" in the main menu to open the new donation form. 
      • If you are logged in, the fields will populate with the information in your membership profile.
      • You can choose to give by check with a mail-in form or to give online by PayPal or credit card. 
      • If you choose to give by check, you will be able to generate a mail-in form to print and enclose with your check.
      • If you choose to give online, you will be able to generate an invoice to save for your records.

For the moment we are retaining the "Add to Cart" button for donations to the  the GSWC General Fund to provide you the option of including your donation with your renewal of membership and not having to fill out a separate form.

  • Timely notice about upcoming events and new issues of Family History Capers and News-Pages. Current issues are available under *Members* and Washtenaw Research (with login).
  • Family History Capers archive All issues are under Washtenaw Research > Capers Archive (with login) and are searchable. Search for a name and open the relevant issue with the click of a mouse!
  • News-Pages archive All issues are under Washtenaw Research > News-Pages Archive. Contains Society news, meeting summaries, and topical items.
  • Member-only books and databases Click here for a full list of databases. See also, About Us > About Our Website.
  • Monthly lectures and classes from September to May with engaging and talented speakers, sustained by your dues.
  • Networking with other genealogists and area researchers who will listen to your stories. 
  • Support our library of over 2,000 books and manuscripts, vital records, cemetery records and census records, microfilm and microfiche. Our focus is Washtenaw but we also have books and records of national and international interest.
  • Submit a query about *any* ancestor to the Family History Capers. (Non-members may submit only Washtenaw County ancestors.)
  • Surname research Enter surnames into Members Surnames to connect privately with others working on the same line. Each place on its own row.
  • Submit ancestor charts for surname indexing in the Family History Capers.
  • Be part of the solution Don't just do genealogy, promote it! Join a committee or help with a project. Volunteer page
